The life of St. John of the Cross had great significance in the religious culture of our country, and so also the life of St. Teresa of Jesus. His religious poetic writings and the foundations of Carmelite Priests throughout the world are important.
He spent the last days of his life in our city in the convent that bears his name "Convent of St. John of the Cros" or of the "Discalced Carmelites" due to his great devotion to the Virgin of Carmen.

Mudejar Museum

The Mudéjar house built between the 14th and 15th centuries and today converted into the Archaeological Museum of the city of Úbeda, is located in the old San Pablo collation. The house is structured around a small central patio surrounded by four open galleries from which the different rooms or rooms exit.
Access is through a gallery made up of four tumid arches or pointed horseshoe arches, in which some stonemason marks can still be seen. These arches are supported by octagonal pillars with bases decorated with balls and polyhedral capitals with plant decoration.

Inside the museum we find numerous examples of Mudejar style ceilings. It is a wonderful art full of geometry and harmony. As they are made of wood, most of the originals were replaced by new reconstructions.
